Trish is a Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Her recent pregnancy and the birth of her son have renewed and widened her interest in Yoga prompting her to study Baby Yoga and Pregnancy Yoga with Francoise Freedman at Birthlight. Trish has first hand experience of utilising Yoga during and after pregnancy and birth in order to secure early bonding and create a happy and strong relationship between parent and child as well as promote healing and wellbeing during this intense time of physical, emotional and spiritual change. Trish is passionate about sharing all she is continuing to learn from her son, her teachers and all the lovely mummies and babies she is privileged to meet on her journey. |
Trish was blessed to have a trouble free pregnancy and birth. She enjoyed this special time fully and knows the role pregnancy yoga played in keeping her fit, healthy and helped her to bond with her baby long before his birthday. Knowing how valuable she found her yoga training during her own birth experience is a huge motivation in spreading these wonderful, nuturing practices and supporting women during this very special time in their lives.
Pregnancy yoga classes consist of gentle, flowing and safe adaptations of classical yoga practices as well as relaxation and breathing exercises that can benefit various pregnancy ailments and will induce calm, joy and comfort in this time of constant change. The practices can be adapted to suit the stage and individual needs of each woman.
The Birthlight practices she has learned in her training have changed the way Trish interacts with her son through the holds, practices, songs and games that now induce fun and communication to their every day. She quickly gained the confidence she needed as a first time mum and found that the grounding and relaxing effect the practices had on her spread to her baby.
The class includes simple but effective sequences for mum (or Dad!) that will help to alleviate tension, focus on posture and strengthening the pelvic floor after pregnancy and raise energy, whilst promoting relaxation. The movements for baby will help to strengthen the core, back, neck and shoulder muscles, flexibility of the hip joints as well as helping proper function of the digestive system and circulation.
We will practice sequences that will promote coordination, balance and social interaction. Easy relaxed holds, games and songs are fun activities that are easy to carry into daily life and continually nurture the bond with your baby.
In contrast to the gentle practices of pregnancy yoga Trish’s practices and teaches the dynamic and vigorous practice of Jivamukti yoga
Jivamukti yoga combines a powerful, flowing physical practice, with the use of music, spiritual teaching, pranayama, meditation, hands on adjustments and massage. It aims to bring the ancient yogic practices into contemporary life on and off the mat with the ultimate goal of self-realisation in this lifetime.
Jivamukti yoga has helped Trish to gain confidence, stamina strength and flexibility on more than just a physical, but also on a mental, emotional and spiritual level.
She loves how teaching and practicing Jivamukti Yoga taps into her own creativity in order to best serve the individual or group in front of her at the present time.
